DIRECTOR VACANCIES- CALLING FOR NOMINATIONS

OVERVIEW

New Horizons Tasmania is calling for nominations to fill several elected director vacancies on its Board at its November 2022 Annual General Meeting.

New Horizons Tasmania supports and encourages a diverse range of candidates to nominate for these elections. The Board seeks to have a broad representation (including but not limited to gender, age, diversity, location, skills and experience) of directors.

ABOUT THE ROLE

New Horizons Tasmania is a volunteer based non-for-profit organisation providing life-affirming inclusive sport and recreation programs for people with disability across Tasmania through mainstream sporting and community partnerships since 1986.

The Board, comprising seven elected and up to two appointed directors, is responsible for overseeing the governance and strategic directions of New Horizons Tasmania.

The Board typically meets six times per year, either virtually or face-to-face in Launceston, for approximately two hours. Directors are expected to attend the annual general meeting and the awards function.

Director positions are voluntary.

  • Member and stakeholder engagement in organisations
  • Community sport and active recreation/participation
  • Public policy nous, including understanding public policy impacts on disability services
  • Legal compliance focus.

Nominations from Men and people living in the North-West region of Tasmania are also encouraged, to add to the Board’s gender and location representation.
