We’re proud to launch a new campaign celebrating the everyday lives, ambitions and achievements of people with disability.
Imagine a world where people didn’t make assumptions about people with disability.
A world where every person was given the opportunity to be known for who they are – where their ambitions, personality, achievements and capabilities were discovered by taking the time to genuienly get to know them.
That simple idea became the driving force behind I’M CAPABLE, New Horizons Tasmania’s newest awareness campaign.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll introduce you to five incredible people from our statewide New Horizons Tasmania community through a series of short videos posted across our Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn channels.
You’ll meet people who play sport, go to work, spend time with friends, pursue their passions, challenge themselves and work towards their goals – just like everyone else. Their disability is part of who they are, but it is only one part of their story.
Some disabilities are visible. Some aren’t. What we are reminded of every day at New Horizons Tasmania is that disability does not determine a person’s ambitions, talents or potential.

I’M CAPABLE exists to challenge the assumptions people make about disability. Too often, people with disability are defined by what others assume they cannot do, rather than being recognised for who they are and what they can contribute.
We hope these stories encourage people to look beyond first impressions, keep an open mind, and take the time to discover the personalities, ambitions and capabilities of people within our community.
Capability has always been there. Sometimes, it’s our expectations and assumptions that needs to change.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live and work, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and emerging. We recognize and celebrate their enduring connection to land, waters, and culture.
